Personal History : Thomas A. Rösler was born to Ida & Hermann Rösler on September 12, 1902 in Stuttgart. The son of a Obergefreiter & full time housewife / mother Thomas had a generally pleasent childhood. However with the great war came dispair. Hermann Rösler died in 1917 the Battle of Arras. Which marked the beginning of Rösler's rise to military acclaim.
He and his mother were forced to abandon the family home and move to a small village in Celle, Deutschland. Years of impoverishment and strife led to Rösler's belief that the German people were opressed in the wake of the great war.
MIlitary History : Rösler first joined the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei in 1935. With his interest completely engrained in the success of Germany's future he joined the Wermacht, training with them until 1939. His time in the Wehrmacht saw him rise to the rank of Unteroffizier. It was his CO who first mentioned that he may well fit in with the at the time, rising institution of the SS.
Over the next 3 years Rösler would become a well known figure in the Waffen-SS at the first two years of the war would see his exploits have him rise through the ranks to Sturmbannfuhrer, this is the position he currently holds as commander of the 2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich".
